This website is no longer active. We have chosen to leave it available to smallholders and small farmers because there is a lot of information on it which remains relevant and useful.
What began 25 years ago as the Gauteng Smallholder Magazine, then became the SA Smallholder Magazine, and then this website ceased to be active in 2024 with the retirement of the Editor and Publisher.
We were smallholders ourselves and have, over the years, tried and tested almost everything one can do on a plot…not always to great success, but with a lot of lessons learned. We bring this knowledge to our editorial. Combining that with over 40 years of publishing experience means we produced good quality, easy-to-read, useful material for South Africa’s smallholder and small farmer community.
However, as with so many publishing ventures it became unprofitable after the Covid pandemic, as advertisers ceased their support or switched to other forms of advertising, such as Facebook.
